Joshua Bell

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 9:02 pm

Joshua Bell is on television at the moment, being interviewed by Renee Fleming. He is beginning to look like a middle-aged man who is strangely trying to look younger. And why the bangs? Is he wearing a wig? His hair looks tackier than Renee Fleming’s. Hers actually looks good tonight.

Snow

jpdec142007abWe got about ten or eleven inches of snow yesterday. That’s my estimate. I don’t know what the official word is. Very fluffy and easy to shovel.

Social networking sites

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 2:26 pm

My thoughts on some social networking sites:I keep in touch with my friends through e-mail, and so I don’t fully appreciate social networking sites. To me they have been an amusing way to kill some time.

I found myspace.com interesting at one time, but as time has gone by, I have become fairly bored with it. There is too much attention to professional musicians at myspace. Who really cares about the new albums and new gigs of lots of different musicians? I’m afraid I don’t.

Facebook.com might be interesting to students, but it seems an unwieldy site of little interest.

Yuwie.com is the site that interests me the most at the moment. I believe that it will experience great growth and will challenge the popularity of myspace. The new idea at yuwie is that the site will share its revenues with its users. A difference at yuwie is that people are eager to have lots of friends, because of the belief that more page views will increase one’s revenue.

Lazzeo.com is an interesting site, in that it permits banners and links to one’s affiliate programs. The downside is that many people may be promoting get-rich-quick schemes and one can wonder what sort of ambience one has gotten oneself into.

Friendster seemed interesting to me in its early days when there were lots of ficitional profiles, but since their elimination it seems boring. It seems to be experiencing some growth among young people in third-world countries.

In conclusion, I’ll still stick with myspace, but I’ll be paying more attention to Yuwie.

New social networking site Yuwie

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 8:38 pm
The concept of the new social networking site Yuwie “is similar to MySpace, Facebook and other popular network sites, in that users design their personal pages, post photos and video, send notes to their online friends and write blogs.

“The major difference? Yuwie users have a vested interest in overall traffic and the success of Yuwie’s ads.

“Yuwie distributes more than half of the site’s advertising revenue back to participating end-users through PayPal banking accounts or mailed checks. [Yuwie CEO] Rogers wouldn’t divulge figures; he said users are not promised specific rates because they fluctuate depending on monthly advertising revenues.”–journalrecord.com

Hemp/cotton/lycra underwear for men

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 2:07 pm

I added some hemp/cotton/lycra briefs and boxer briefs to my Go Softwear men’s underwear page today.

Hemp is said to be a more durable fibre than cotton, and its production is good for the environment.  Hemp cultivation requires less water than cotton cultivation, and there is no need for pesticides or chemicals.  An acre of land planted with hemp can yield two to three times more fibre than the same area planted with cotton.
